I think everyone's experience is different and of course there's pros and cons of both... Me personally, i'd probably go for c section as it'll be quicker! But of course the recovery time may be longer...
I had the same choice between the two with my first baby and chose a c section.. My reasons were - I was worried I would go through a very painful induction and land up in an emergency c section anyways (happened to so many I know) - heard c section is more stress on the mom and induction is more stress on the baby. - baby was measuring a bit big and I’m a small build so had fears of baby getting stuck Also I’ve heard if your body is not ready, you’re more likely to have an unsuccessful induction. But many have a smooth experience ❤️ I did a pros and cons list which helped me decide, but ultimately it was a gut feeling but a scary choice to make x
I had a vacuum assisted birth with my first and it was fine, no where near the worst bit of my labour or recovery 😊 You can decline both induction and section should you wish, or see how favourable things are looking. I've decided to go ahead with induction, I didn't want the recovery from a section. My first sweep was promising and I've a second booked for Monday when things should be even more favourable. If the 2nd sweep doesn't start me off then it looks like they should be able to skip the first bits of induction and get straight to breaking my waters. My plan was always to only do a maximum of 24 hours of induction before requesting a c section but if I don't need the balloon or pessaries then I should be in active labour way before the 24 hr mark. Completely up to you but those are my reasonings 😊
@Jess this is super helpful, thank you. Suspected big baby over here and I'm 5ft and they've put all the risks in my head. 🙈 Also thinking I'd rather get a planned c section (as I hear so many lovely stories) rather than induction (as I hear awful stories like you said!) xx
@Aurélie I had a really lovely experience and was so happy with mine, I’m planning on having another for my Jan baby. I know it can be different for everyone but I’ve read this a lot. X
@Jess same. Thank you for sharing! Xx
It can be very variable and I'd say you have to make the right decision for you. Personally, I have said no induction and if they feel they need the baby to come early, the only option I will accept is a section. However, everyone needs to decide that themselves based on their circumstances and weighing up the risks etc. Know that this is your choice and you shouldn't feel pressured to do anything you don't want to. Good luck!
