Promethazine (phenergan)

Currently 13w with my 3rd baby, my 3rd boy. I’ve never experienced morning sickness until this pregnancy and unfortunately it’s severe nausea and vomitting. I was prescribed Reglan but it didn’t work and Zofran The past 4 weeks I’ve been taking Phenergan it was 12.5mg at first but since it was working But not completely they changed it to 25mg. I’m worried bc it’s literally promethazine im scared for my babies health anyone else taken Phenergan and had a healthy baby????

I took it from about 7 weeks till I give birth at 37 weeks. Baby was born early but I was induced as he had stopped growing ( I had severe HG and believe that cause the issues baby boy had when he was born not the medication as it is safe ) he was in the nicu for a week he needed antibiotics and a feeding tube as he wasn’t eating very well ( due to him being early nothing to do with the medication) I wouldn’t worry , they wouldn’t proscribe you anything that can effect baby without telling you

I had HG my whole pregnancy and took phenegran. My baby is perfect. I would have died without medication due to dehydration and malnutrition. To me the low risks of potential side effects was better than the very real risk that I wouldn't be able to sustain a pregnancy due to starvation.

@Shaely thank you so much that’s what my Dr calls it “HG” which is crazy bc I have 2 other boys and never once felt nauseous during those pregnancies I thought i was having a girl this time!!

@Makayla Johnson I guess also my baby was born at 40 weeks. I puked up to the hour he was born, but he was born the day after his due date and I had an elective induction due to scheduling with my husband's work.

I took it my whole third trimester because I was so sick

@Alisa 😭man I’m so confused why I have HG this pregnancy but didn’t the others

I was never diagnosed with hg but im pretty positive I had it I was sick bad my entire pregnancy
