Baby completely off bottle and food

Hi guys, my little one is 8 months next week. She’s got a cold but is completely off her bottle and food, I thought it was due to her having a blocked nose. But she takes breasts, she currently combi fed. I’m scared it’s an aversion. Is this common when babies have colds? She’s literally skipped two feeds today and had 20Ml in the other. I’m really worried but will need to take her to the doctors on Monday

Yup we wnt through the same although my daughter is preferring solids. I took to GP and we've been on antibiotics now. She's doing better. Hope your lil one feels better soon x

@Samina Oh did your little one have an infection? I never thought of that, I just assumed it was a normal cold 😞

It’s very common, we’re going through the same at the moment. We try to keep him hydrated with water as much as we can as he doesn’t reject that and I’ve managed to get small feeds of milk and solids into him but he’s barely having anything compared to his usual until he got on antibiotics and started feeling better today and he’s had a bit more

They listened to her chest and she had crackles. So it could've been the start of a chest infection so gave antibiotics.

If they can't breath they can't suck. Get some saline drops/spray and do this before every feed then suction their nose to help clear their airways. If they're really snotty make your kitchen or bathroom really steamy and stand there with baby. I ended up in a&e a couple of weeks ago because my baby caught a nasty cold/flu and stopped eating for 24 hours. Within 24 hours of being in a&e her breathing went downhill and back to hospital we went and she had the start of a chest infection.
