Does drowsy but awake work??

I’ve been trying to put my LO down drowsy but awake as has been waking up to be rocked to sleep every hour from 12.30am in the night. It worked once but has not worked again. Wakes up fully when put down, if calm I leave him to figure it out but pick up and calm him down if crying. This leads him to a wake window which is longer and ends up being difficult to calm him. Any advice? Or am I going about this all wrong? He is 20weeks EBF. Wakes up once to be fed. If I try to feed, other times not hungry, to sleep wakes up even more and will cry.

If it does work nobody told my son… 😂 tried a hundred times! No advice unfortunately but I’m following this in case anyone else does!

@Skye hahahaha! 😂 our sons didn’t get the memo 😅

@Zinnia they really didn’t 😂 maybe one day haha!!

Is he used to fall asleep on his own? Is this happening only at nights? Do you use dummy/comforter? My little girl is used to be in her cot drowsy, I don't rock her to sleep or feed to sleep, we use dummy and comforter so she cuddles up to it and falls asleep woth white noise on, if she wakea up through night, we don't go to her unless she starts being vocal then I give her dummy and she falls back asleep right away

I put my little one down in his cot when he starts rubbing his eyes, all lights off and dummy in and he usually falls asleep on his own. If he wakes during the night I put his dummy back in but if it doesn’t work after 20 minutes I’ll interfere a bit more but I very rarely have to x

@Tereza no he is not used to falling asleep on his own. Has never taken the dummy, I sometimes wish he did!! He used to fall asleep while being patted when he was a month old but since then has relied on being rocked to sleep. Likes the forward & backward motion. I’m trying to reduce everyday but he isn’t taking very well to it. But I’m trying everything now as I’m super exhausted waking up every hour. Has a lovely 4-5 hour stretch at the start of the night (which is too early for me to be in bed so I don’t get that). But then that’s it.

@Rosie bless him. I’ll try to get him off the rocking first I guess before I can start to put him down awake. But I don’t know what to do for the comfort as he won’t take the dummy. He’s not comforted by sucking I guess. Does not stay latched if not hungry either, as in doesn’t ever stay on to be comforted. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Zinnia You can try heat his matress with hot water bottle, I also add soft blanket around the matress (sleep with it the night before to soak my scent in) and also give a try to comforter it does work magic. It took my little one around 3 days to get used to falling asleep in cot and around week without having to comfort her. I would lay her and wait for 3 mins trying to comfort without picking her up if she did not stop within 3 mins I would pick her, comfort her and try again

I use a comforter, I know it's 😍 baby against advice but she likes it over her face to go to sleep 🙈 she doesn't have a dummy anymore just white noise and comforter

@Tereza thank you so much!

@Emma Cunningham she is adorable omg! ♥️♥️♥️
