Cows milk

so my baby girl turned 1 today and i’ve heard ofc about putting baby into cows milk after 12 months. I’m a breastfeeding mumma but ofc want to stop soon. Anyone got any tips on moving her into cows milk or should i just try her and see how she is?

You don't have to stop breastfeeding until it feels right for you and baby. Obviously do it if you want to, but don't do it just because you feel you should.

We did a slow transition at 11 1/2 months. Started with one bottle for a week then did 2, 3 etc.

My baby didn’t accept no other milk so when she turned 13 months I was removing the breastfeeding one by one, and it took me around 3 months to take it out from the day completely. Then next step was to remove the feeding before night sleep and because she won’t drink any other milk I was giving her Greek yogurt which she loved and she would get fed and go to sleep with no issues. And after a month I took out all the night feeds , first night my mum slept with her , second night my hubby and then she would wake up and cry and I would rock her to sleep, two weeks after removing it completely she started to sleep through the night. Now also giving her yogurt before sleep but I am making her banana and kefir smoothie. I strongly recommend you to take it step by step as it’s easier for the baby and for your breasts, they may hurt a little when you stop completely so I recommend you to massage them gently from nipples towards armpits, it helped me straight away.

@Felicia thank you so much i’ll have to see what she’s like with cows milk ofc

We just offered whole milk by itself and he took to it. Now o offer a bit each day but I’m still breastfeeding too so we’re not super concerned with the amount right now. He’s 14m

@Maria no worries, feel free to message me if you think I could help you with anything else, and good luck xx

My son didn’t stop breastfeeding (he weaned himself) until 19 months old. I did a cup of milk at lunch and dinner but he started eating early because of his stomach issues. We started with almond milk and milk substitutes and then slowly went to cows milk
