Are you giving her a bottle of anything other than water in her crib?

I’m a dental hygienist and it possibly looks like a case of baby bottle decay. That’s where cavities form from a child falling asleep with a bottle in their mouth. The sugars and acids from the milk or other liquid just bathe the teeth all night long.

Bottle rot?

@Hannah nope she only drinks water from her bottle and I breastfeed still

@Ciara nah I don’t let her sleep with bottles

How do you bathe the teeth? @Hannah

@Natalie I was saying if she was to fall asleep with a bottle in her mouth the milk would just sit on her teeth and essentially bathe them. But you said you’re not doing an overnight bottle. Are you giving her juice or other foods/drinks that are high in sugar?

There’s also a chance that’s just the way her teeth erupted. Some teeth just have less mineralization. Definitely get her seen by a dentist though, ideally a pediatric dentist

Do you use fluoride toothpaste? If not then I’d definitely recommend doing so (just use a rice size amount since they can’t spit). Sometimes it’s just genetics but this does look like bottle rot. Yes, breastfed babies can still get bottle rot. Try to get her into a pediatric dentist.

I’ve never heard it called “bottle rot” 😅 lol we call it “baby bottle caries” in the industry, but I like the ring of bottle rot. I just wanted to second the fluoride toothpaste. And definitely examine the diet for sugary foods and drinks (keeping in mind a lot of healthy foods and drinks are high in sugars too- like milk).

@Hannah ohhh ahaha I’m like bathe teeth that’s new but yea no sugary drinks just water or BM

@Indigo thanks I will try the fluoride she sees her doc after new years will deff get pediatric dentist recommendations
