@Joely thank you! He was only awake 4.5 hours total yesterday which blew my mind, like having a newborn all over again! He is gradually getting better. He’s been taking his 2 bottles a milk and actually finished 1 of them yesterday but not a lot of water. Weirdly after his nap yesterday, we cheated and gave him an Ella’s kitchen pouch so he can sit still with minimal effort to eat it and he ended up demolishing it, a yogurt and a loaf of watermelon. Most he’s eaten in about 4 days - he’s a dinky thing as it is so worried he will drop weight. Water is hit and miss but again it’s getting more each day x
Oh bless him. It’s so hard, isn’t it? Sounds like he’s slowly on the mend though which is positive! You’re doing all the right things mama🫶🏻
@Joely it really is! It’s baffling my husband and I. Like at what point do you call 111? He was so unwell, so unsettled, endless coughing and crying. He’s the absolute opposite when he’s well and he’s rarely ill so I can’t get my head round it x
@Becca so we didn’t call 111 but we did end up going to our closet paediatric A&E - the GP sent us there after 2 different antibiotics didn’t work. They weren’t particularly worried about amount of sleep or food intake but wanted to know that she was drinking. At this point she was only really having breastmilk and refused anything else so the fact he’s eating is positive! Maybe see how he is today and if you’re worried or not seeing any improvement call 111 x
@Joely thank you for all your advice, I really appreciate it x
Let him sleep it off! We had the same worries last month with an awful chest infection and it’s horrible when they’re not themselves. As long as he is drinking and keeping hydrated, try not to worry about the sleep and food as much. When we feel poorly, we just want to sleep or rest so we shouldn’t expect babies to be any different - that’s what we kept telling ourselves! I hope that he feels better soon 🤗
